  • Old Boys' Reunion on Angel Radio

Let me start by making it clear that the title is not ageist. The old boys concerned are all former pupils of a Surrey school who have been brought together by Angel Radio.

Librarian and presenter Richard Anscombe in conversation with fellow presenter Ian Mitchell found out that he had lived in Morden in his youth. Richard had been living in Sutton at the same time.

When the conversation turned to schools, they found they had both attended Raynes Park County Grammar School though Ian was in the year below Richard.

This morning they were both on air together. Imagine their surprise when they got a request call from yet another old boy of the school.

"I couldn't believe it," said Richard. "Barry Dixon was in my year and used to sit behind me. We do keep in touch and he probably heard Angel Radio when in the Isle of Wight on holiday.

"He still lives in Surrey and must have started listening to Angel Radio again when it started streaming on computer.

"It was an amazing coincidence though to have three former pupils of Raynes Park County Grammar on air together."

  • Angel Radio and DAB

The Angel Radio Isle of Wight listening family is growing daily thanks to the programmes being streamed across the Internet.

However, be careful if you're thinking of buying an Angel Radio fan a new Internet radio for Christmas.

Morning presenter and librarian Richard Anscombe tells me that you can't get the station  on the new Internet radios as it is not yet on DAB.radio.

Looks like saving up time again -- ( Thinks--more money for another new licence, no doubt..)

  • Listen on Computer

Angel Radio Isle of Wight can now be heard loud and clear on your computer.

Thanks to Wight Cable, the Island's first community radio station is now streaming its programmes around the globe.

The original Angel Radio listening links streamed the programmes from Angel Radio, Havant on mainland UK.

Now you can hear the presenters and programmes broadcast from the Isle of Wight, UK.

Check it out by clicking on the Old Time Radio link on the right. Then on the Angel Radio IOW page click the Listen link for your particular media player in the left hand index on the home page.
